News about the next Tomb Raider film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has confirmed a third movie is in the works with Dan Lin as producer. Time Warner acquired film rights upon increasing its stake in Eidos in December 2008. The film is still in early stages with no writer or director yet, but the report indicates it will be a reboot that will re-imagine Lara Croft origins. Lin announced that Angelina Jolie would not be returning to the role of Lara Croft, and that a new actress might be cast after a writer and director are attached to the project. Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men Director Alfonso Cuaron is rumored to directed the movie. Graham King's GK Films acquired the film rights and plan to release an origin story reboot by 2013. Iron Man writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby have been hired to pen the film. 
On March 27, 2013, MGM is coming on board the reboot with GK films.MGM has chosen Marti Noxon to pen the script. On February 25, 2015, Deadline has report that Warner Bros will work with MGM to make the film and Evan Daugherty will write the film's script. Adrian Askarieh told IGN in an interview that he may oversee a film universe with Just Cause, Hitman, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief.On September 16, 2015, The Tracking Board reports that Kathryn Bigelow, Mimi Leder and Catherine Hardwicke are on the shortlist to direct the reboot. Tricia Brock was offerd to direct but pass on the film. In November 2015, a director was found to the movie, Roar Uthaug and Geneva Robertson-Dworet will write the film. In April 2016, Heroic Hollywood reports a rumor that the film will be titled The Tomb Raider with a October 6, 2017 release date. In July 2016, the film's release date was confirmed as March 16, 2018.
